2Summary of Rules & Some GuidelinesSee All Rules

You have the entire month of October to run the course as many times as you like
Remember it is an open course and is mostly open to horseback riding and mountain biking
The course at times is very technical or steep. Remember that this is a virtual race and you will be out on your own
A Discover Pass is required to park at Blanchard State Forest
GPS data is required to qualify for time-based and attempt-based awards, but is not required to participate
- —The GPS track must go through the waypoints shown on the course map
- —The results are calculated by a segment detection program. If you believe there is an issue with the time it gave you, please flag it
- —The uphill and downhill rankings will be based on the cumulative time of the two uphill and two downhill segments as shown on the course map
- —Remember the results are only as good as your GPS's accuracy so the reported times may differ some from your recorded time
- —It is recommended that you use the fastest interval your GPS can handle, ex. 1 second
Once completed with your run you must log the result to our system regardless if it is on Strava or not

I , THE UNDERSIGNED, ACKNOWLEDGE THAT BY SIGNING THIS DOCUMENT, I AM RELEASING THE GREATER BELLINGHAM RUNNING CLUB, ITS MEMBERS, RACE WORKERS, VOLUNTEERS, SPONSORS AND THE STATE OF WASHINGTON TO INCLUDE THE DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES, ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS AND CONTRACTORS (“RELEASEES”) FROM LIABILITY. THIS RELEASE IS A CONTRACT WITH LEGAL CONSEQUENCES. I HAVE READ IT CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING. 

In consideration of my being allowed to participate in the BLANCHARD BEAST VIRTUAL TRAIL RACE event at BLANCHARD STATE FOREST I freely agree that: 
TRAIL RUNNING can be dangerous and pose a risk of injury or even death. I fully assume the risks associated with my participation in this virtual event including but not limited to: hazards from improper technique, accidents or illness in remote locations without medical facilities, actions of other participants, equipment failure, inadequate safety measures, THE RELEASEES’ OWN NEGLIGENCE, weather conditions, and the risk of any personal or bodily injury, disability or death. 

I know that running in an event that is organized as a virtual activity where I run on my own, at a date and time of my choosing, which will not have any support or security measures in place.  I will not participate in a virtual event unless I am medically able and properly trained, and by my initials, I certify that I am medically able to perform this event, and am in good health, and I am properly trained. I further agree to abide by the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) recommendations for the prevention of the spread of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) and other communicable diseases, and I attest to having read the CDC’s guidance at: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prepare/prevention.html. I attest that if my community has a shelter in place order, that I will only participate in the virtual event by using a personal treadmill, and I will not run outside in the community during the duration of a shelter in place order. 

For myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, legal representatives, assignees, and successors in interest, I HEREBY WAIVE, RELEASE, DISCHARGE, HOLD HARMLESS, AND PROMISE TO INDEMNIFY AND NOT TO SUE the Releasees from any and all claims of any kind and character, including claims arising from the Releasees’ own negligence, and from any and all damages directly or indirectly arising out of or incident to my participation in the BLANCHARD BEAST VIRTUAL TRAIL RACE event or transit to and from the area. A “claim” as used in this contract means any financial loss, claim, suit, action, damage, cost, demand or expense, including but not limited to attorneys’ fees, attributable to bodily injury, disability, sickness (including COVID-19), disease, or death, or injury to or destruction of tangible property including loss of use resulting there from. Should I or my successors assert a claim in breach of this agreement, the asserting party shall be liable for the expenses (including legal fees) incurred by each Releasee in its defense, unless the Releasee is finally adjudged liable on such claim for willful or wanton negligence. If any term or provision of this agreement is found to be invalid, that shall not affect the other terms and provisions, which shall remain binding and enforceable. 

I grant my permission to all of the foregoing to use photographs, motion pictures, recordings or any other record of this event, submitted to the website, or tagged on Facebook/Instagram for any legitimate purpose. I further understand that there are no entry refunds, exchanges, transfers or rollovers.

PARENT OR GUARDIAN WAIVER FOR MINORS (UNDER 18 YEARS OLD) 
The undersigned parent and natural guardian or legal guardian does hereby represent he/she is, in fact, acting is such capacity and agrees to save, hold harmless, and indemnify each and all of the Releasees referred to above from all liability, loss, cost claim or damage whatsoever which may be imposed upon said Releasees because of any defect in or lack of such capacity to so act and release such Releasees on behalf of the minor and the parents or legal guardian.
